Using on Mac with MacOS Sierra 10.12.4

Post by Jayf » 13 Apr 2017 07:41

Hi - have used this in the past on different machines and now wish to install on my MacBook Pro running Sierra 10.12.4
Downloaded without issue and installed dmg etc as normal. When opening the app i cannot see any of the buttons for zoom etc that normally sit below the Menu line and above the chart area, This part of the display is just plain grey. Have tried removing, reinstalling - all the normal tricks as yet to no avail. Anyone with any ideas please? This is the best Grib file viewer I've come across and i need to get it to work!

Thanks

Just seen that my post yesterday did not get posted!

Anyway:
On Mac OS Sierra 10.12.4 I....
- Installed the app (with all maps)
- Registered with zygrib
- Opened the app
- Had no map, just a blue square.
- In the package I can see all the maps under ....data/maps..
- I tried entering Ludo's command lines in Terminal. but this has no effect at all.

Can anyone help...It would be a shame if this resource does not work on Mac

Exactly same here (same MacOS version), no icons visible, background maps not showing at all as well.

It works fine when started from the terminal in the application folder with:

Code: Select all

$ zyGrib.app/Contents/MacOS/zyGrib

Hello,

Thanks to the instructions found here and some additional googling, the next workaround works great for me:

- Locate zyGrib in finder
- Right click the application and choose 'show package contents'.
- Locate the executabele file in Contents > MacOS
- Double click the file to start zyGrib through the terminal.

After these steps zyGrib works just like it always did on my Macbook.
