Updating zyGrib on (K)ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Post by rudi » 18 Oct 2012 19:38

Hello all,

yesterday I found out that the installed version of zyGrib (3.9.x which came from the Ubuntu archives) does not work anymore.
I checked on the zyGrib web page for new repositories. (I should mention that I'am not really a Linux expert).
The post from Doc Hausser there shows a command:

Code: Select all

deb http://doc.hausser.ch/debpackages ubuntu-dha [version]
I was not sure what to do with it. In the terminal window I always got the message that the command "deb" is unknown.

After reading some other forums I added the following to /etc/apt/sources.list

Code: Select all

## zyGrib grib file viewer
deb http://doc.hausser.ch/debpackages ubuntu-dha precise
After that I updated all the software (two times on Ubuntu with Unity) and I got the latest version of zyGrib.

Maybe there are some others that might want to do the same.

Ralf

I'm unable to update zyGrib on Linux Mint 12 (it uses Ubuntu 12.04). I added the appropriate repositories, and my version of zyGrib is show to need updating, but when I try, the installation files are not found:
Err http://doc.hausser.ch/debpackages/ ubuntu-dha/precise zygrib amd64 6.0.2-1210ubuntu1
404 Not Found
Failed to fetch http://doc.hausser.ch/debpackages/pool/ ... _amd64.deb 404 Not Found
E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing?
Any thoughts?

I notified the same case in another thread (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=501).

But I have searched in google and I found a solution. While the web go up...

Somebody has updated zygrib and zygrib-maps packages for Ubuntu 12.04 (i386 structure):
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zy ... ld/3938827

But they aren't available for updating, for now.

In that web, however, you can find two .deb packages: You can download and install. In my case (Kubuntu 12.04), only by double click in those files.

If you had added "deb http://doc.hausser.ch/debpackages ubuntu-dha [version]" in your source.list, you must comment that line, in otherwise, you will receive all the time that there is another version available.

I made a update for 12.10 and I made a mistake with 12.04 this will be corrected as soon as possible and I will continue to maintain updates till I found a way to have or a ppa with the last version or zyGrib in the universe repository with a reasonably updated version.

Sorry for my mistake and thanks for your messages discribing the bug of packaging

Thanks for the info, but if you comment the line too long you will not be informed about new version without bug of packaging

Yes, you are all right.

But I was thinking that "solution" as temporal.

Thank's for your work.

Re: Download yes but error with de key??

Post by Joinzar » 02 Nov 2012 18:36

Hi.

Now I can download the file/package for installation, but it's no possible to update (or install) because there is an error fetching key or hash for the package, or the hash it isn't right.

I've tried fetching the key with 'wget http://doc.hausser.ch/debpackages/dha-debpackages.key -O - | sudo apt-key add -' but error again.

Here the output from terminal:

Code: Select all

sudo aptitude safe-upgrade
The following packages will be upgraded:
  zygrib
1 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 14.6 MB of archives. After unpacking 28.2 MB will be used.

E: Failed to fetch http://doc.hausser.ch/debpackages/pool/precise/zyGrib_6.0.2-1204ubuntu1_i386.deb: Hash Sum mismatch
My zygrib was installed from a deb package.
Because of this, I've tried purging the installation and reinstalling the package, but I've got the same:

Code: Select all

...
E: Failed to fetch http://doc.hausser.ch/debpackages/pool/precise/zyGrib_6.0.2-1204ubuntu1_i386.deb: Hash Sum mismatch
The package now is right:

Code: Select all

aptitude show zygrib
Package: zygrib
