Potential equivalent temperature

Post by Tropelio » 18 Jan 2015 23:34

Good evening,

Thanks a lot for the new version 7.0.0 covering the new GFS model. And thanks a lot for keeping the system working after all those crazy attacks.

I would like to call your attention on the potential equivalent temperature data: they are missing in this new version and were also missing during the last days of the previous one. Does it mean that thetae won't be available in the future?

Take care,
Tropelio

Hi,
Some GFS data are missing with the new model, like specific humidity used to compute theta-e.
There is a solution based on relative humidity, but not implemented in the current version made in the emergency.
I will do it asap.
A+

Hi Jacques, good morning,

I guess you must be very busy lately... However, I was wondering about this old post concerning the possibility of plotting maps of potential equivalent temperature at different levels in the atmosphere. In my opinion this is an extremely useful feature of zyGrib that was lost when the new GFS came into service. Are you planning to implement the workaround solution based on the relative humidity?

I would like to take advantage of this oportunity to thank you againg for this incredible program.

Regards,
Tropelio
